HR Manager

This is a fast paced role with a lot of variety, managing all HR activities within a school that employs over 150 staff. The HR Manager will work closely with the Board of Trustees and senior management, to support the learning and teaching of our aakonga and kaimahi.

You will oversee the payroll function, assist with recruitment and manage all the employment relations issues that arise throughout the year.

The current HR systems and practices need updating, so you will have the ability to shape the HR functions in a way that suit you. You will love rolling up your sleeves and working, hands on in a fun, supportive team of dedicated teachers and support staff.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR or a related field and has 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Leadership experience
  • Excellent understanding in NZ employment, human rights legislation.  
  • Previous experience with employment relation issues, personal grievances, mediation and settlement agreements
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, with a proven ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
  • Experience working in the Education sector and with unions, an advantage
