Deputy Principal

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established school who takes pride in creating a learning environment for our students that fosters growth, inclusiveness, and achievement. As the deputy principal you will be part of an executive team who work collaboratively to meet the needs of our aakonga.

You will be responsible to lead and manage a diverse range of areas such as supporting and coaching curriculum and pastoral leaders, responsible for the pastoral care of aakonga, and leading school wide initiatives.

Because you are focused, determined and an inspiring educator, who enjoys building and growing genuine collaborative relationships with staff and aakonga, this position will be the next step in your educational vocation. Your leadership will be impactful, collectively lifting our school learning culture to improve educational outcomes for our aakonga and staff. A
culturally responsive approach and lens is a natural way of being as an educational leader for you.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Teacher registration
  • Postgraduate qualification, preferred previous experience as either a head of faculty or head of a large department, or assistant principal or deputy principal
  • Successful teaching experience
  • Experience managing aakonga and/or staff in a school-wide pastoral and discipline system and/or team(s)
  • Successfully led and facilitated professional learning and curriculum design
  • Sound understanding of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi as the basis for self-determination for all aakonga and their whānau.
