Accounts Manager

Rutherford College is a medium size coeducational school with approximately 1450 students located in west Auckland. The school is a vibrant place where staff and students are encouraged to strive for personal excellence.

Rutherford College is looking for an experienced Accounts Manager to oversee all day-to-day financial processes and procedures. You will have tons of initiative, be able to think on your feet, be systems oriented and process driven.  This is an on-site role, Monday to Friday – working 8am to 4pm or similar.

Reporting to the Business Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Day to Day and monthly accounting entries (accounts payable, journals, invoicing)

  • Daily Reconciliations in Xero

  • International Students and Community Education – reconciliations, oversight of transactions, international transfers as necessary.

  • Reporting: Preparing data rich management reports for the board on a monthly basis

  • Monitor budgets and track expenditure.

  • Tax and Compliance with all financial regulations, and policies.

  • Assist with Payroll for non-teaching staff

  • Liaise with Auditors bi-annually

Essential skills required are:

  • An excellent working knowledge of Xero, Approval Max and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel. 

  • Working knowledge of Google Suite

  • Previous experience in a school is advantageous but not essential. 

  • Knowledge of Education payroll or similar would be helpful.  

  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and able to work collaboratively in a team or autonomously

  • A confident clear communicator who can work proactively to problem solve

  • Approachable, friendly with a can-do attitude

  • Have a hunger to see tasks through to completion and smart enough to seek feedback or advice when necessary.

  • Be willing to learn new systems and streamline current processes

This is a fulltime permanent position open to applicants who reside or have the right to work in New Zealand. An immediate start date is desirable, but this can be negotiated for the right applicant. Applicants must be prepared to be police vetted at the short-listing stage.
